Macaws can be very loud, almost screaming.  There are two screams in this painting.  The loud calls are to make contact with others.  They imitate well and will practice human words until they get them right.  The Macaw is a king sized member of the parrot family and lives in Mexico, and Central and South America.  The habitat is rain forest, rain forests along rivers, and grasslands with trees.  While they nest in holes of trees or earthen banks and cliff sides, Macaws blend beautifully with the forest because of their bright color.  It is a gorgeous sight to see a group of them together as they fly out of the canopy of the forest.
