Endangered Songs.  This is a partial list of endangered birds and their songs.  The painting's abstract color scheme is that of the Kirtland's Warbler.  It is one of the rarest members of the wood warbler family and nests in Michigan's lower and upper peninsula, Wisconsin, and Ontario.  It prefers jack pine stands over 80 acres in size, nests on the ground and prefers nesting in jack pine ground where the soil is Grayling sand.  Land now set aside for the Kirtland's Warbler totals more than 150,000 acres.  Other endangered birds listed are:  Bell's Vireo, Golden Cheeked Warbler, Least Tern, Loggerhead Shrike, Piping Plover, Red-Cockaded Woodpecker, Roseate Tern, Seaside Sparrow, Short-Tailed Albatross, Willow Flycatcher, and the Whooping Crane.
