Pyrrhuloxia Cardinal

40 x 48"

The Pyrrhuloxia Cardinal, or Cardinalis sinuatus, is a male.  It sings at specific perches to establish and maintain its' territory and chase away intruders during the nesting/breeding season.  Competing males alternate their song during a singing period and have been found to sing in unison or alternately with other nearby males.  It is easily recognized by the beautiful red color of its feathers.
